It is Pasco’s Science & Engineering Showcase time. All students in grades 4 and 5 must complete a science project. 3rd graders will be completing one in class but are encouraged to do one at home too. The project is different this year.
Students will
  • research 1 topic in a global challenge category
    • write the research down in a notebook or provided packet
    • the challenges are:
      • Recycle/Reuse/Reduce
      • Food & Clean Water, Air
      • Safe Homes, Schools & Streets
      • Protect Habitats and Homes
      • Healthy Communities
      • Conserve & Improve Energy
  • develop a solution
    • students only need to write and communicate the solution; they do NOT have to build anything
  • create a 1-2 minute video using the website or app FlipGrid
    • Traditional students were taught how to use the app during STEM lab
    • explain the research that was learned
    • explain their solution
All traditional students received a packet during STEM lab with more information. MSOL students have been shown the showcase model online. ALL students can access detailed information with videos in their science course module on myLearning which is in myPascoConnect. For research purposes, students can access Discovery Education or other research sites through their myPascoConnect to find information appropriate for elementary age students. 4th and 5th grade teachers will provide some time to work on the project in class when time is available. Please plan on working on some of the project with your child at home. The project is DUE THURSDAY DECEMBER 10th.

Any questions, please contact your child’s science teacher or Mrs. Krupp, their STEM lab teacher at akrupp@pasco.k12.fl.us.
